  • The brings adult volunteers and children together at Los Angeles public libraries to share the love of reading. GAB volunteers will be available to read with children at the Encino Tarzana Library from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today. The library is located at 18231 Ventura Blvd.

  • Attention, art fans: At 7 p.m. tonight, the LACMA Costume Council will present a behind-the-scenes look at the extraordinary costumes of Cirque du Soleil and an exclusive preview of the upcoming production of IRIS: A Journey Through the World of Cinema. Philippe Guillotel, acclaimed costume designer for IRIS, will provide an inside look at the creativity, complexity and technology that goes into the making of the show's costumes.

  • Do you have questions about the Mulholland Bridge Demolition and Reconstruction activities scheduled for July 16-17 and closure of the I-405 freeway? Representatives from Metro, Caltrans, Los Angeles Department of Transportation, LAPD, LAFD and the California Highway Patrol will be at from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at The Skirball Center.
