Fighting to Keep Los Encinos State Historic Park Open

Supporters to meet at park Friday afternoon to discuss ways to halt facility's closure next year.

There will be a public meeting Friday with elected officials at the to discuss the closure of the park next July.

The meeting will take place at the park at 2:30 p.m. Residents and park supporters are encouraged to attend and make their opinions heard.

State Sen. Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) is one official opposed to the closure.

“Los Encinos is a jewel for our community and its closure would be a tremendous loss,” said Pavley in a press release. “I will do everything in my power to ensure that this valuable recreational and historic resource remains open.”

Los Encinos is on the list of state parks slated for closure due to budget cuts.
