Bootsy is a gorgeous, 4-month-old golden retriever pup in Encino. One of two littermates to have recovered from parvo, a stomach virus, she is making up for lost time and already knows all of her commands. Bootsy is great on leash and is in training to be a therapy dog. If you see her in Encino shops, you’ll have to ask to pat her as she’s learning to stay in “work-mode” while wearing her vest.

Zeppelin is a stunning Encino Australian Shepherd with oodles of energy. He typically never sits still, so the photograph his owner caught of Zeppelin mesmerized by a bearded dragon is both unusual and very neat.
This is Bao. He's a handsome, lovable and very large Burnese Mountain Dog that does what all mountain dogs do well: pull! Used often as loyal farm dogs, their bulk made them great for pulling carts. Bao is Burnese through and through and often prefers to pull back home to his safety zone, where he can keep an eye on his territory and play and romp. He’s a huge people lover, so get ready for a very wet kiss if you see him when you are out and about.

If you are like me, you probably find yourself stopping several times a week to have impromptu chats with dog owners about the adorable pooches they're with.

I thought it might be fun to introduce you to some of the cute and quirky dogs that live in and around Encino via photo essay. I've highlighted some of the idiosyncrasies and adorable character traits that keep them near and dear to their owners’ hearts.

If you think your pets deserve some press time because of their unusual traits, please e-mail your name and a photo or short video to info@poochbuddies.com and we’ll consider them for 15 minutes of fame.
