UPDATE: Patterson Medals at National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships

Crespi Carmelite High School student, Amir Patterson, takes home bronze in the discus competition and gold in the shot put.

Temperatures soared in the middle of the country this week, but that didn't stop Amir Patterson from medaling at the National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Wichita, Kan., on Thursday.

The student finished third place and set a personal record in the boys' intermediate discus event with a toss of 150'9". It was over eight feet farther than his previous best of 142'5".

He also won the boys' intermediate 12-pound shot put Friday with a distance of 54'10.25" to take gold.
