Double-Rainbow Brightens a 'Drippy December' in the San Fernando Valley

Good weather predicted for New Year's and the Rose Parade.

A double-rainbow arched over Chatsworth, Northridge and much of the Valley Wednesday bringing the promise of warmer weather and clear skies for New Year's Day, the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game.

A fast-moving storm sprinkled the region on Wednesday, continuing "Drippy December" skies. Another front with rain and snow may arrive Saturday, but should give way to offshore winds and clear skies by Monday, New Year's Eve, the weather service said.

Wednesday's rain accumulations were light, with the snow level starting at 5,000 feet above sea level and dropping to 4,000 feet, the weather service said.

The rain morphed into rainbows and scattered showers by Wednesday afternoon, and then were chased out of the area by gusty, cold winds from the northwest.
