Nancy Cartright, Voice of Bart Simpson, Wins Volunteerism Award

The woman behind an iconic voice is applauded for her efforts.

A longtime Northridge resident and the woman behind one of the most recognizable cartoon voices of all time was recently recognized for her contributions outside of the recording booth, the Daily News reports.

Nancy Cartwright, voice of Bart on the iconic show The Simpsons, was presented with the Fernando Award Friday night in Woodland Hills. It's considered the highest award for volunteers in the San Fernando Valley.

She was also named the community's honorary mayor in the 1990s.
