Parents, Teachers and Students Protest LAUSD Teacher Layoffs
Seven teachers at Lanai Road Elementary still have active layoff notices with no response from the district.
Protestors from Lanai Road Elementary School took to the streets on Friday to support the teachers that have received Reduction in Force notices this year.
"Seven of our teachers have been RIF'd and our parents are really frustrated with UTLA and the LAUSD, not negotiating at all yet. We want our teachers to know that we value them and education," PTA President Miki Chase said while picketing on Ventura Boulevard.
People outside the school including Rabbi Ron Stern from Stephen S. Wise Temple came out to support the cause.

"Our temple is committed to improving education in California and we are working with parents to do everything we can to make it happen — our money could be better spent than laying off teachers," Rabbi Stern said.
