TGIF Teen Movie: Captain America: The First Avenger

Where/When: North Hollywood Branch Library, 5211 Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood; 3:25 p.m.

Why Go: Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, is deemed unfit for military service and consequently joins a secret research project that turns him into Captain America. It’s an action-packed movie, so bring some buddies and chill with a fun adventure flick.

Rhythmic Ballet

Why Go: It's a great opportunity for kids (ages 4-5 beginning) to take up a new interest and make friends at the same time.

NoHo Dine-Out Friday Nights

Where/When: 11458 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood; 5-8 p.m.

Why Go: The local food trucks appearing tonight will include N’awlins, Rounds Burger Truck, Gypsy Toast and Sweet E’s Bakeshop. Grab a bite to eat, listen to live music and shop at boutique booths. Basset Hound Rescue Southern California will also be here for a dog adoption fair if you want to check out some cute hounds!

Mystique featuring Chauncey Hines (R&B Jazz)

Why Go: Café Cordiale is always a happening place to be—it’s convenient, close, and has great live music on the weekends.

Mark Renk: Late Night Hang

Where/When: Vitello’s Italian Restaurant, 4349 Tujunga Ave., Studio City; 10 p.m. to midnight.

Why Go: Live music makes any Friday evening more fun, and tonight’s late-night hang is hosted by musician-songwriter Mark Renk, so gather some friends and enjoy the start of your weekend.

Easy Does It

Why Go: This class offers long warm-ups on the floor, a mixture of standing postures and a nice, long cool-down and stretch. The exercises aim to alleviate stress and focus the mind.

Dig It!

Where/When: Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: What better way to spend time with the kids than in digging for ancient treasures? Activities include sorting through hidden artifacts, weighing and examining the findings, and sculpting your very own artifact that can be taken home.

ABC’s of SNL With Jon Lovitz

Where/When: Jon Lovitz Comedy Club, 1000 Universal Studios Blvd., No. 222, Universal City; 8 p.m.

Why Go: Former cast member of Saturday Night Live Jon Lovitz makes everyone laugh. He’s appeared on hit television shows such as Friends and Seinfeld, and he is one of the few performers who can say he started as an actor and then became a stand-up comedian.

Chantz Powell: Late Night Hang

Where/When: Vitello’s Italian Restaurant, 4349 Tujunga Ave., Studio City; 10 p.m. to midnight.

Why Go: Relax at Vitello’s in the downstairs lounge as singer and trumpet player Chantz Powell serenades us. Start the weekend right by having a relaxing evening full of live music.

Miniature Golf

The weatherman says rain is 100% likely tonight and tomorrow. So if you and yours are going out, dress appropriately and take an umbrella, and have the kids do the same. :)
