Weekend Planner: Go Green, Ride Bikes, Ogle Gems and Rock Out
This weekend brings fun and activity for the entire family.
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. TreePeople, 12601 Mulholland Dr., Beverly Hills.
Why Go: Hosted by Ed Begley Jr., the fair will demonstrate how people can make simple changes to adopt a more environmentally sustainable future. Workshops, local green vendors and sustainability experts, plus great food and music. Pre-register for workshops here.

11th Annual L.A. River Ride
When/Where: Sunday, Gene Autry Museum, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles.

Why Go: Join 2,000 riders at L.A.'s premiere bike event. Choose from six different races for all levels and ages. End a great day of cycling fun with an Eco Expo, raffle, live music and an International Food Faire.

When/Where: Sunday, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Hosted in the backyard of a private home in Noho/Toluca Lake. Address given upon payment and RSVP.
Why Go: It's a rockin' house party and the first event of the season featuring the Ukulele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere. They are not your typical uke group—think "Alt Uke"—it's 20 ukes (more or less) singing and strumming together. Water and sodas will be available on site, and you're welcome to bring your own. No alcohol. Bring a lawn chair.

Colfax Charter Elementary School World Fair
When/Where: Saturday, noon to 7 p.m., 11724 Addison St., Valley Village.
Why Go: It's one of the biggest and best school fairs, featuring family-friendly games and attractions, two food courts, a huge silent auction with over 500 items, raffles and musical performances throughout the day. My Gym hosts Toddler Town, an area exclusively for babies and children under 6. An adjacent street will also be closed off for Morella Water Park, an entire block of super soaking fun.
Pricing: Admission and parking are free. All proceeds from the silent auction and games pay for student enrichment and traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
Rockatomics Gem & Mineral Show
When/Where: Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pierce College Farm Center, 20800 Victory Blvd., Woodland Hills.
Why Go: This show happens only once a year. Check out retail dealers selling books, beads, jewelry, minerals, fossils, unique gifts and more.
Admission: Free.
