Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around [VIDEO]

Join in the fun on Read Across America day Friday.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday March 2 by joining book lovers and your local school or public library for Read Across America day.

of Encino will be handing out free bookmarks to celebrate the day; to read the Center's Norbert Weinberg's Patch blog on how to encourage your child to read.

On March 7, will welcome best-selling author David Carter, to read from his pop-up version of the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax.

This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.

Share your plans for celebrating Read Across America Day with Patch or on the Read Across America pledge site.  NEA and Lorax's publisher, Random House, also have lesson plans and lots of other materials, resources and printable activities for teachers, parents and kids.
