Valley Beth Shalom Hosts Ami Aloni Tribute Concert and CD Release Event Wednesday

The music of the synagogue's former composer-in-residence will be played at VBS Wednesday night.

The Jewish Music Commission of Los Angeles, the Aminadav Aloni Music foundation and in Encino are presenting an Ami Aloni (1929-1999) tribute concert and CD release Wednesday night at VBS.

Aloni was music director and composer-in-residence at Valley Beth Shalom for almost 30 years. His music has become widely recognized in synagogues and concerts.

Some of the leading artists in today's Jewish music scene have recorded a CD of Aloni's favorites in today's sounds and styles. The CD was produced by Sam Glaser. In celebration of the release of this new recording, the concert presents a tribute to Aloni, and features appearances by many of the recording artists from the CD, Cantors Hershel Fox and Phil Baron and the Valley Shalom Congregational Choir, directed by Chris Hardin.
