Bubbles Pet Spa to Celebrate Grand Opening Wednesday

Encino shop offers full-service grooming and a do-it-yourself station.

The will hold a ribbon-cutting Wednesday to celebrate the grand opening of Bubbles Pet Spa on Ventura Boulevard.

The store, which had a soft opening 10 weeks ago, will receive the chamber's official welcome to Encino during a ceremony at noon. Bubbles will provide refreshments and a special deal on self-service pet grooming.

Owner Simon Bassala told Patch that he is excited about the opening.

"A lot of people will come," said Bassala, "and at least one dog," he said, referring to his own Doberman. Bassala also has a pet bird, an African Grey parrot, who may or may not be in attendance.

Bassala said that the salon offers full-service bathing and grooming for dogs and cats, as well as a do-it-yourself station. The full-service price varies by breed. The self-service, which includes the use of shampoos, conditioners, a hair dryer and brushes, costs a flat $15. The spa also sells dog and cat food, treats, toys and shampoos.

There are four more Bubbles stores in the South Bay, according to Bassala, who counts the other owners among his friends.

Bassala, a resident of Tarzana, said he picked Encino as the location for his Bubbles spa for a variety of reasons.

"I didn't find any nice grooming shops in the Valley," said Bassala, "and I found a location that was really nice, right on Ventura Boulevard." He said that he also felt that Encino was full of dog owners.

The spa also makes sure that cats, as well as dogs, are well catered to.

"I have a groomer who loves cats," said Bassala. "He gets excited every time we have a cat."
