Academy of Culinary Education of Woodland Hills Graduation
(May 1, 2011) – Tarzana, CA - The Academy of Culinary Education (ACE) will be graduating its Spring 2011 Pro-Cooking Class. To commemorate this event, the graduates will be developing, preparing, plating, and serving a 7-course gourmet dinner paired with matching wines, preceded by 7 different hor d'oeuvres. The dinner event will take place at the Braemar Country Club in Tarzana, CA on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Cocktails with a no-host bar will begin at 5:30pm, followed by dinner service beginning at 6:30pm.
Headed by Chef Cecilia de Castro, ACE is located at 4917 Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Woodland Hills. ACE offers a 30-week professional cooking program resulting in students gaining careers in the food industry as chefs, cooks, caterers, or other food related personnel. 50% of this graduating class is already working in the industry.

∗ Laura Cheng and Kevin Diaz at Red Seven at the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood.
∗ Michelle Aguillon, Erik Behr, Laura Cheng, Kevin Diaz, Mark Sainz, Jackie Thomassen, and Bree Vivante at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood and at Jai, La Jolla, San Diego.
∗ Brian Abrams was offered a permanent position at Hollywood & Highland.
Others are working at 3-star restaurants or are starting their own businesses:
∗ Richard Coop works at Café Fiore in Ventura as a line cook and bread maker.
∗ Jaron Gugliuzza works at RH Restaurant and Bar on Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, as a line cook. Jaron also has a side business baking pies and tarts for a catering company.
∗ Michelle Aguillon runs Fork-It Catering, and has already catered theater events and film shoots.
∗ Mark Sainz, a personal trainer, is also working as a personal chef specializing in healthy cuisine in the Los Angeles area.
∗ Jackie Thomassen is teaching nutrition and cooking to children in Camarillo starting this summer.
The graduates also welcomes monetary and food supply donations to offset the cost of preparing the dinner. Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Markets in the Northridge, Van Nuys, and Oak Park locations have kindly donated food supplies. Each graduating class is encouraged to help raise awareness for a charitable organization and donating proceeds from its dinner ticket sales. The designated organization by these graduates is the American Red Cross. Proceeds will go towards relief and recovery efforts for the victims of the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.
