Grab & Go Kids Planner: A Cycling Event Where It's OK to Make Stops to Shop

Weekend events blend the familiar and the exotic: a bike tour of Magnolia Park, a taste of Japanese culture and a celebration of the American Indian.

When/Where: Saturday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., in Burbank's Magnolia Park neighborhood. Register at Magnolia Boulevard and California Street (on the Chandler Bikeway route), Burbank; 818-238-5180.

Why Go: Hop on a bike and discover what’s in store at Magnolia Park's boutiques and eateries. Participate in bicycle and helmet decorating contests, enjoy free bicycle tune-ups, learn road safety tips and join in arts and crafts activities before heading out on a self-guided bike ride through the neighborhood.

LadybugMusic ® Demo Classes

When/Where: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., 4032 Whitsett Ave., Studio City; 310-359-5391.

Why Go: If you're looking for a new music class for a child up to age 5, check out these demo classes. Sing, play percussive instruments, dance, get silly, sing lullabies and  much more.

Price: Demo class is free.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2011

When/Where: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, 10:30 a.m.  to 5 p.m. Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles. Click for directions.

Why Go: It'll be a cultural blast. Enjoy music, dance  performances, a kimono fashion show, a photogenic dog contest,  a kids zone with crafts, storytelling and entertainment, a  martial arts arena, odori dancing in the street, vendors,  a food court, and a beer and sake garden.

Price: Free admission; additional cost for some activities.

American Indian Cultural Day at the Autry

When/Where: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Autry National Center, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles.

Why Go: Learn about stickball and celebrate American Indian culture with stories from American Indian authors and illustrators, special docent-led family tours, live American Indian music, and a special American Indian cultural presentation from John Bradley, a nationally recognized artist in basketry and traditional arts whose ancestry is Comanche and Cherokee.

Price: Free with museum admission.
