Keeping Ventura Boulevard Fragrant for 25 Years

Casa de Flores prides itself in being open every single day of the year.

A business that remains open 365 days a year—or 366 during a leap year—sounds too good to be true.

Yet that’s just what Casa de Flores is. The well-known flower shop in the heart of Ventura Boulevard, between Haskell and Firmament, hasn’t shut down for a single day in nearly 25 years, according to its owner Nancy Hasson.

Since she opened her store along with her dad in 1988, says the florist, except for an International House of Pancakes restaurant across the boulevard and the St. Cyril of Jerusalem church directly next door, just about every business and establishment has changed.
