Local Restaurants to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Encino Patch picked five nearby restaurants with tasty specials and great prices for the holiday.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the unlikely triumph of the Mexican army over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. However, Cinco de Mayo is not a Mexican holiday; it is an American Civil War-era holiday created by Mexicans and Latinos living in California. The festivities are a celebration of Mexican pride and heritage.

Encino Patch has compiled a list of Mexican restaurants in the area that will be having parties and deals in honor of this special day.

Casa Vega has an almost retro feel, with big, red booths and dim lighting. The restaurant opened more than 50 years ago and is renowned for its margaritas, great food and fun atmosphere. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Casa Vega plans on having a live guitarist and raffles. For more information, call 818-788-4868 or visit casavega.com.
