Sweet Ways to Celebrate National Ice Cream Month

Earlier this month, we pulled together a list for National Hot Dog Month and now it's time for dessert — National Ice Cream Month!

Ronald Reagan dubbed July National Ice Cream Month in 1984. Here are places to grab something cold and sweet to celebrate in Encino.

  • gives customers the freedom to pick and choose frozen yogurt flavors and toppings in an almost buffet-style dessert stop. The fresh fruit toppings and lowfat flavors are a healthy alternative to ice cream.
  • features soft serve yogurt, with many low carb, no sugar added, dairy free, nonfat, gluten free and kosher varieties. Even the healthiest eaters can find something they enjoy!
  • has been in operation for more than three decades, and an interior wall features autographed celebrity photos. Thirty different rotating flavors of non-fat frozen yogurt and toppings are available, served in cups or cones. Shakes and smoothies can also be made from the yogurt.
  • has a very cheerful atmosphere with quick service. It offers indoor seating with '80s decor, white couch-like seating, floral wallpaper and hanging light fixtures. You have lots of options, but Pink Lemonade Tart and Plain Tart are very tasty.
  • also uses the self-serve frozen yogurt concept. Flavors include but aren't limited to birthday cake, cappuccino, watermelon sorbet, and lots of fixings, too.
  • Sometimes, nothing hits the spot as well as a chocolate dipped cone from . It’s a vanilla soft serve cone dipped in chocolate that hardens right on the cone.
