What Would You Like to See Replace Islands Restaurant on Ventura Boulevard?

Over a year later, the spot where the eatery stood is still vacant.

The old location of Islands restaurant at 15927 Ventura Blvd. is still without a tenant just over a year after it closed its doors after 19 years of business.

Patch reported on the closing of the Encino fixture last October.

What would you like to see in this part of Encino? Is there anything you feel is missing? A pharmacy, another restaurant, or cafe?

Here's a novel idea: call the Island's Corp Office and ask them to return to this location!

A bookstore. We already have too many pharmacies in Encino.

We miss Islands! They were always busy when we went every week for dinner. But if they don't come back there was a rumor that Brent's was looking at the location. It's been denied but that would be great.

Barry and Valerie, thank you for your comments! I know that Islands is missed by its many fans. And Ken, yes, the Encino Barnes & Noble is missed too!

I would like to see an Olive Garden Restaurant in that location. It would do very well. Dick Lancaster

Ask the landlord, how much he wanted to jack up the rent and how long it needs to be vacant before Islands can return? Another example of lanlord greed? Hmmm see Encino (vacant) El Torito.....Islands.....Baja Fresh (can blame that on the restaurant's so called 'food') ....or that ghost town of Encino Avalon?? Well, unless a bank is moving in (or a CVS) it appears that the rent is to high???

Brent's is family owned. They have 2 locations and would put Jerry's and Uncle Bernie's (formerly Fromin's) to shame. Numero Uno is now gone too --- but Poquito Mas is going into that location --- not much to look forward to there.
