The southbound full directional freeway closure between the 101 freeway to Getty Center Dr. is anticipated to begin Tuesday, December 6, 2011, and last for three nights and then resume for one more night on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.

The full directional freeway closures will occur during the late night hours, weather permitting. Each night, ramps within the freeway closures limits may begin to close as early as 7:00 pm and freeway lanes will begin to close as early as 10:00 pm, leading up to the full directional freeway closure between the hours of 12:00 am, midnight, to 5:00 am.

In addition, the southbound Skirball off-ramp is scheduled to close at 7:00 pm on the night of Friday, December 09, 2011 and reopen on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 6:00 am.

Sepulveda Blvd. will remain open during the nights of the full directional freeway closures and will be used as a detour route. Detour maps are available at www.metro.net/405. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. The same number of existing freeway lanes will remain after the re-striping operation.

Why: The contractor is currently preparing to temporarily widen the freeway near the Mulholland Bridge in order to support the development of a construction work zone at the center of the freeway. A bridge falsework structure will get erected temporarily to support the reconstruction of the
Mulholland Bridge. The temporary widening of both directions of the freeway near the Mulholland Bridge will entail roadway repaving work and the re-striping of freeway lanes.
