VIDEO: 5 Movies to Watch for Halloween: Hocus Pocus, The Tingler, The Skin I Live In and More

Here are Patch's picks of perfect films for a spooky Halloween.

Ready for a good scare? Here's a roundup of films that are perfect for Halloween.

1. The Tingler: The Silent Movie Theater in Hollywood rounds up a month of Halloween movies with this 1959 flick about a lobster-shaped monster who feeds on terror. Like the original screenings, the theater promises to administer real electric buzzer shocks to you in your seat as you watch!

2. The Skin I Live In: not a conventional horror flick, but Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's latest is the most genuinely unnerving film I've seen in a long time.  Now playing at the Sherman Oaks Arclight.

3. The Shining: Showing at 7:30pm on Sunday October 30 at the Sherman Oaks Arclight. Because all work and no play makes Jack a dull, dull boy.

4. Ghostbusters: This 1980s tale of paranormal investigators is playing on Halloween night, Oct. 31 at the Sherman Oaks Arclight. For showtimes, click here.

5. Hocus Pocus: Rent it if you can! This film, starring Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker, is a Halloween classic for all the family. Amazon Prime has it on instant view.

If that wasn't enough, the Rocky Horror Picture Show plays every week at the Nuart in West LA. Remember to check the MPAA rating; many scary flicks are not suitable for young children.
