5 Things You Need To Know: May 23

  1. Join a Meetup.com group for a Monday morning walk around Lake Balboa. They will meet at 9:25 a.m. at the boat ramp for introductions and will start walking at 9:30 a.m. Click here for more details about the group.

  2. The Encino Chamber of Commerce Education Committee will meet at , 17500 Ventura Blvd, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The education committee works closely with the local public and private schools.

  • Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will participate in a town hall meeting to respond to questions and criticisms about his performance during his time in office. Sponsored by the Daily News, the event will be held tonight from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Regent Hall at Reseda High School, 18230 Kittridge St. It is free and open to the public, with one ticket issued per person.   • The Encino Neighborhood Council Finance Committee will be meeting at 7 p.m. at the , 4935 Balboa Blvd. They will vote to spend funds on mailing lists, a wireless router, books for the public library, a portable dance floor and storage cart for the Woman’s Club and more.
