  1. The Los Angeles City Council will be meeting at 10 a.m. today. If you’re interested in any items on the agenda, you can attend the meeting downtown at 200 North Spring Street, or listen to the live broadcast by calling 213-621-CITY.

  2.  If you haven't had a chance to see San Fernando Valley Art Club’s 2011 Spring Juried Art Show, now is the time! The show runs until June 11 at the Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood.

  • When the City Council voted unanimously May 18 to pass a $6.9 billion budget, it included a 10-percent, or $4,500 reduction to the budgets of each of the city's neighborhood councils. Before the vote, the Encino Neighborhood Council had a budget of $45,000, which they use to award funds to local schools, pay for website construction, mailers, food for meetings, and more.
