  1. As we enjoy the long weekend with friends and family, it's easy to lose sight of the significance of Memorial Day. It’s a day to remember and honor those who have given their lives for our country. So as you make preparations for your barbecues or staycations, consider how you can do something for the soldiers who have done so much for our country.

  • There will be no mail delivery today and all U.S post offices are closed. Most stand alone banks are closed on Memorial Day, but call ahead to be sure. Also, the stock market, government offices, schools and libraries will also be closed in observance of the holiday.

  • Don't miss the last day of the Valley Greek Festival, the biggest Greek festival in Los Angeles. Admission is free to this event filled with Greek food, music, art, culture, dancing and fun. You can join the festivities today from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 9501 Balboa Blvd. in Northridge.

  • The lowest price for regular gasoline in Encino, according to LosAngelesGasPrices.com, is $4.03 per gallon. Find it at the ARCO station at 18076 Ventura Blvd.

  • The National Weather Service is predicting a sunny high of 76 degrees. The low will be around 55 degrees.
