May has been declared National Stroke Awareness Month, Melanoma Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, Better Sleep Month, Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, National High Blood Pressure Education Month, Better Hearing and Speech Month, National Lupus Awareness Month and National Cancer Research Month. What did you do to become more aware, better rested and less sniffly this May?

  • The brings adult volunteers and children together at Los Angeles public libraries to share the love of reading. GAB volunteers will be available to read with children at the Encino Tarzana Library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today. The library is located at 18231 Ventura Blvd.

  • The good weather and long weekend took many Encino residents to the infamous Las Vegas strip for food, fun and that thrill of gambling. So for those who need it, there a meeting in Studio City at Temple Beth Hillel, 12326 Riverside Dr., tonight from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
