6 Sustainable Passover Seder Secrets
Passover is a spring holiday and it can be green, too.
Passover–Pesach in Hebrew–is a spring holiday that celebrates new life. That's why the served at a Passover dinner (seder) include fresh greens and eggs to symbolize the season.
Jewish families in Encino–and around the world–will sit down for a seder after sundown on Monday.

1. The Jews may have wandered the desert for 40 years, but it will take you no more than an hour to walk to the Encino Farmers Market and even less time if you ride your bike. Not only will you get to the market in a gas-free manner, but you'll also be supporting local growers and their fresh, organic produce.

4. And as always, bring your own shopping bags to the farmers market and supermarket to get your goods home the green way.
5. Once your meal has been planned, don't forget to set a sustainable table. Even if there's a crowd, avoid the urge to use paper and plastic.
6. When your Passover meal is finally over, store leftovers in containers instead of plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Compost what you can and be sure to run a full dishwasher. And if you did use paper or plastic, don't forget to recycle.
