Encino Woman Reconnects With Zambian Penpal

The two met for the first time since they started writing to each other in 1987 and were prevented corresponding eight years later.

Penpals Laurie Tragen-Boykoff, from Encino and Agoura Hills, and Nicky Mutoka from Zambia, met recently for the first time since they first starting writing to each other in 1987, according to the Los Angeles Times.

They traded letters for eight years before the charity they communicated through closed in Mutoka's village, and they were unable to correspond. Years later, they found each other on Facebook, according to the Times.
