Homeowners Warned of Phony Tax Collection Letter

The Department of Consumer Affairs has issued a warning of a tax collector scam after victim complaints, according to KCBS2.

Targeted victims reported receiving a phony letter that appears to be an official bill.  The letter looks like it is from the Los Angeles Treasurer and Tax Collector, and it demands money for property taxes by referencing governmental tax laws.

Homeowners who have reported this scam reside in the Valley and elsewhere in Southern California.
