Larger Turnout Than Expected at Tarzana Neighborhood Council Elections

The polls closed at 8 p.m; results are expected either before midnight Thursday or Friday morning.

There was a larger turnout that usual at the Tarzana Neighborhood Council elections Thursday night, according to organizers, although they did not disclose approximate numbers.

Polling was open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center on Ventura Boulevard. Before 6 p.m., more ballot papers had to be requested to cope with the demand, according to Jay Handal, one of the organizers.

Kevin Taylor of EmpowerLA told Patch that the unofficial results would be declared once the votes had been counted, but that a waiting period of three days would be necessary to take into account appeals and provisional votes.
