The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles Wednesday announced the election of Lawrence Rauch of Encino as chair of its Board of Trustees. Rauch succeeds Lorin M. Fife, who completed consecutive two-year terms leading the organization, the largest manager of charitable assets and planned-giving for Los Angeles-area Jewish philanthropists.
Rauch has a broad, deep commitment of service to community, including history with The Foundation which dates back to 1982. Over the past 31 years, he has served as an advisory-board member, trustee, chair of its Grants Committee and, most recently, as its treasurer and Finance Committee chair. He is a past president of Jewish Family Service who also has held multiple leadership positions in the Jewish Federation. In the private sector, he is president of Los Angeles Cold Storage, a 100-plus-year-old company providing public frozen-food warehousing and related services.
Rauch holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a master's degree in finance from Southern Methodist University. He and his wife, Linda, have three children.
“I am honored, Rauch said. "The Foundation occupies an important station in Los Angeles Jewish philanthropy—for donors and beneficiary nonprofit organizations alike—and playing a role in its stewardship is enormously fulfilling. I am looking forward to working even more closely with The Foundation in this role.”
