UPDATE: Mulholland Bridge to Shut Down Overnight Friday and Saturday

Construction crews to reconfigure traffic to one lane each way.

This story has been updated to reflect extended closure times.

The Mulholland Bridge is to be completely closed from 10 p.m. on Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday as construction crews restripe the lanes, install temporary traffic signals and add concrete barriers to separate the traffic from the work zone.

Metro has extended the closure into the late afternoon on Saturday because crews are expected to be installing water valves just west of the bridge.

After the completion of this work activity, the Mulholland Bridge is to reopen at about 4 p.m. on Saturday. There will be one lane of traffic in each direction throughout the reconstruction of the south half of the bridge, which is expected to last 11 months.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained and pedestrians will be rerouted to a safe area outside the construction zone.
