A 19-year-old man suspected of reckless driving was shot and killed by police Wednesday night after he apparently threatened officers at the end of a chase on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Station stopped the suspect's car around 9:50 p.m. in the area of Plummer Street and Shirley Avenue in Northridge, said Officer Karen Rayner of LAPD Media Relations.

The suspect sped away from the stop and drove recklessly, running red lights, before getting onto the southbound Ventura Freeway, Rayner said.
