Power Up With Michael Levy's Pilates Workout

Encino instructor Michael Levy demonstrates two Pilates exercises that can be performed at home with no special equipment.

New to Pilates? No problem. Encino instructor Michael Levy has 18 years of teaching experience under his belt and has offered us a few tips on how to keep fit at home. All you will need is a mat or a towel.

In the accompanying video you can learn "The Hundred," which is a warm-up exercise that increases circulation and works the abdominals. You can also learn a standing wall exercise, which stretches the back and the hamstrings.

The owner of the , located in the Encino Town Center, is a protege of Romana Kryzanowska, who learned the Pilates Method from the founder, Joseph Pilates. The method originated in the 1920s and is designed to combine a balance of strength, flexibility and endurance.
