Quick Poll: Will the World End in 2012? Newly Discovered Mayan Calendar Says Maybe Not

What do you think?

The Huffington Post is reporting that, according to a recent Reuters poll, one in ten people believe that the world will end in 2012. But a newly discovered Mayan calendar throws doubt on the prediction, according to the Christian Science Monitor.

Regardless of what actually happens on December 21, 2012, though, there are plenty of people preparing for some kind of disaster. A city in southern Mexico has already begun counting down to the final day, according to the Huffington Post.

Fear not, though: most Mayan experts seem to think that it will be the end of a particular cycle of time, rather than the end of time, according to the Huffington Post. It will also be, perhaps, the beginning of a tourism boom for that particular part of the world.
