There's a (Super) Full Moon Out Tonight

This Saturday's full moon will be the closest to Earth in about 20 years and comes the day before spring.

Not only will Saturday’s full moon mark the spring equinox, but it will also be positioned close to earth, meaning a bigger and brighter full moon for you to enjoy.

It should be a spectacular sight, that is, if you can even see it. Weather forecasters are calling for a 70 percent chance of rain.

Once a month the moon hits its "lunar perigee," which is the point in the lunar cycle when the moon is closest to Earth. Since the lunar perigee coincides with the full moon this month—a coincidence that happens about once every 18 years—the moon will appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter in the sky, especially when it rises on the eastern horizon at sunset.
