U-Frame It Store on Ventura Reopens With a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The owner and Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce celebrated the shop's reopening Wednesday.

U-Frame It, a custom framing store on Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, held a grand reopening Wednesday. Helping to cut the ribbon on the repainted, refurbished store was the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce.

Diana Williams and Jen Svejda of the Chamber were in attendance, as was a representative from Councilman Zine's office.

Adrianna Cruz-Ocampo, who owns the store with her husband, Francisco Ocampo, told Patch that the U-Frame It company—which consists of two stores, one on Sherman Way in Van Nuys, and the other in Tarzana—had been started by her family many years ago.

"It's been in the family for 34 years," Cruz-Ocampo said, "and it's been mine for 24 years. I got married 18 years ago and we felt that the Valley was growing, and so we opened in the west Valley at this location, which suits our business needs."

Cruz-Ocampo said that the Van Nuys location mainly catered to the film industry.

"We do a lot of the sets," said Cruz-Ocampo, "for example for Argo—it's a George Clooney movie—and the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the American version. We dress up the sets, anything you see on the walls that they need to decorate—they have an office, they need diplomas, we frame the diplomas. For Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, they sent flowers from Sweden and I needed to do the same as the Sweden version [of the film]."

Cruz-Ocampo said that her company also provided frames for the sets of How I Met Your Mother, CSI and True Blood.

The Tarzana location of U-Frame It, she said, focused on catering to the public, and to working with designers and decorators. The store regularly turns around frames in under 24 hours.

"We can do that because we're not a franchise," Cruz-Ocampo said. "I run my business and I carry every molding. Everything is done in house."
