Weekend Planner: Outdoor Concerts, a Classic Movie, the Old West and Feminine Mystique

It's a weekend of culture and arts for all ages.

When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., The Autry National Center, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles (Griffith Park).

Why Go: Pay tribute to the American cowboy and cowgirl on the 7th Annual National Day of the Cowboy. Main stage performers include Riders in the Sky, world champion gunslinger Joey Dillon, and lasso artists Kansas Carradine and Landon Spencer. This family-friendly event will feature square dancing, barbecue, craft activities, and the grand opening of the Autry’s new Colt Gallery.

When/Where:  Saturday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., J.E.T. Studios 5126 Lankershim Blvd. NoHo

Why Go: This is the opening reception for "Feminine Mystique" featuring artists from NoHo, the USA and abroad, highlighting a display of various mediums with images of remarkable women who inspire and captivate. The reception will also feature feature Jazz musician Tim Moran and Blues songstress Scottie Austin. This exhibit runs through August 31.

When/Where: Saturday, 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Warner Center Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Why Go: It's the premiere eve of this outdoor film series featuring Back to the Future. All films playing through August 27 are projected on a 30’ screen with digital projection and 7.1 surround sound. Bring a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs.

Peter Alsop's Kids Koncerts 

When/Where: Sunday, 11 a.m., Theatricum Botanicum, 1419 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga.
 
Why Go: Sit outside under the trees in this beautiful ampitheatre and have laugh-along, silly, sing-along fun with Peter Alsop — known across the country for his funny, healthy, insightful messages for parents and kids. 

Pricing: $9 or $7.50 for 8 or more, available at the box office in advance or at the door.

Beatles on the Green

When/Where: Sunday, 6 p.m., Warner Center Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Why Go: It's almost like seeing The Beatles! Ticket To Ride is a well known Beatles cover band that plays all their greatest hits.  It's a rock ‘n roll evening not to be missed and perfect for the entire family. Bring a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs.
