Weekend Planner: Remembering 9/11; Fashion, Music Events

A full weekend of activities includes a Valley ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11.

When/Where: Thursday, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Westfield Topanga, 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.

Why Go: Tori Spelling headlines the largest event in the 818 for Fashion's Night Out, a global initiative to encourage commerce, to take place in L.A. and cities throughout the world. The shopping center will have a big party featuring the band Paris Loves L.A., theatrical performers the Beckys, actor and lifestyle expert Gregory Zarian, supermodel-actress Jennifer Gimenez, celebrity stylist George Blodwell and Latin Quintet Espino. Events include a fashion show at Free People; discounts and a reception at Michael Kors; a raffle from the Auto Gallery with a prize valued at $500; a cooking demonstration; and receptions and promotions at many of the shopping center's best stores.

When/Where: Thursday, 6-11 p.m. No Roses Gallery, 13624 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

Why Go: No Roses is debuting a new designer, Monika Knuttson, known for her Gilded Lace jewelry, created from turn-of-the-century French and American lace originally used for petticoats, corsets and bloomers. All Gilded Lace jewelry is handcrafted, using original lace, dipped into 24K gold or sterling silver. That evening, also check out new designs from current designers. There will be wine, refreshments, a $75 gift reward card and much more.

Where's the Money? Access to Capital Business Expo

When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The Odyssey Restaurant, 15600 Odyssey Dr., Granada Hills.

Why Go: Feed your stomach and learn how to get money for your business! The Valley Economic Development Council (VEDC) is celebrating 10 years of helping business owners succeed with this event, which includes a networking breakfast, six workshops to choose from (including Government Loan Options, Microloan Options and Alternative Financing Options), a bankers and resources expo and a loan pavilion, along with a formal luncheon and keynote speakers.

The Calabasas Music Festival

When/Where: Saturday, 4:30-9 p.m. De Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Rd., Calabasas.

Why Go: It's an afternoon and evening of food and music under the stars with Jeffrey Osborne ("On the Wings of Love"), electric violinist Noel Webb, Grammy-nominated smooth-jazz pianist Gail Jhonson, comedian Jay Lamont and Latin jazz artists L.A. Mambo Combo.

9/11 Memorial

When/Where: Sunday, 7 p.m. 9/11 Memorial Fountain in front of the Los Angeles city Fire Station 88, 5101 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

Why Go: Pay tribute to the victims, families and all first responders on the 10th anniversary of the tragic attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Join L.A. City Controller Wendy Greuel, LAPD chaplain Ron Carter, retired Los Angeles firefighter John Keys on bagpipes and various Fire Department speakers.

Pricing: Free; the public is welcome.

Interfaith Choral Concert

When/Where: Sunday, 7-10 p.m., Temple Judea, 5429 Lindley Ave., Tarzana.

Why Go: The Valley Interfaith Choir unites members from Reform and Conservative synagogues, Catholic, Protestant and Mormon churches, and others; directed by Noreen Green of . Special guest appearance by Mark Kashper, second violinist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Several important speakers will punctuate this event.
