Susan Shelley Concedes Assembly District 45 Race to Matt Dababneh

After one day of recounting, Shelley opted not to pursue a second day.

Republican Susan Shelley conceded the Assembly District 45 election Monday to Democratic opponent Matt Dababneh after abandoning a recount, according to the Los Angeles Daily News

“We had a very close election in the 45th Assembly District, and I congratulate Matt Dababneh and wish him well,” Shelley said in a statement.

Dababneh defeated Shelley by 329 votes in the Nov. 19 election in the West San Fernando Valley district before Shelley requested the recount.

After one day of recounting, Shelley opted not to pursue a second day, the Daily News reported. Los Angeles County charges a minimum of $5,400 a day to recount ballots, according to the report.
