Zamir, a member of the Encino Neighborhood Council and other community groups, dies early Wednesday at age 67.

Francie Zamir, longtime community activist, died Wednesday morning at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She was 67.

Zamir, who lived in Encino Village, suffered from leukemia. She served as a member of the Encino Neighborhood Council's parks and education committees. She was a member of the Balboa Sports Center Park Advisory Board and was the park representative of the Encino Village Neighborhood Alliance, among other involvements.

"Francie's passing is a huge loss for Encino and she will be greatly missed," said fellow Neighborhood Council member Glenn Bailey in an email.

Bailey requested that the next Neighborhood Council board meeting be adjourned in Zamir's memory.

“Francie was a wonderful friend and neighbor,” said Encino resident Mary Marks. “She was always there to help in community projects, like the block party. She was a good organizer and always there to lend a helping hand.”
