2 Tarzana Residents in Explosions-Marred Boston Marathon

Kelley O'Brien and Marlene Landaverde finished about an hour before explosions killed two people.

Two Tarzana women ran in the 2013 Boston Marathon Monday, finishing long before a set of explosions killed two people, injured scores of others and caused extensive property damage.

The Tarzana runners, Kelley O’Brien, 25, and Marlene Landaverde, 38, may not have been near the explosions, based on the fact that they finished the race at 03:12:06 and 03:14:09 respectively, according to the 2013 Boston Marathon registration details, and the explosions occurred at 4:09:44, near the marathon’s finish line at the Fairmount Copley Hotel on Boylston Street.

The 117th Boston Athletic Association Marathon began at 6 a.m. PST Monday, following 26 seconds of silence to honor Sandy Hook victims. About two hours after the first runners finished, the explosions occurred near the finish line.
