Accident on 405 Sends Motorcyclist to Hospital, Closes Lanes

A Sig Alert was called and traffic was backed up to Culver City.

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries today during a crash with another vehicle on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sepulveda Pass, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was on the northbound 405 Freeway at Skirball Center Drive, and was reported to the CHP at 11:52 a.m., said CHP Officer Monica Posada.

Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

The CHP issued at SigAlert at 12:54 p.m. and closed the two right lanes of the five lanes at Bel Air Crest Road for one hour.

Traffic was backed up at least five miles, past the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and back to Culver City, according to freeway sensors.
