Armed Robbery, Shooting and Assault 'With a Chair' Heard on the Police Scanner

These are the major events heard around the San Fernando Valley on the police scanner.

Here are the raw data of reports collected by listening to the police scanner from police departments in the San Fernando Valley. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know.

Feb. 5
1:10 a.m. Roscoe Boulevard And Geyser Avenue, Northridge
Report of armed robbery. Two suspects; Suspect #1 is male, Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, 5'7", 170 lbs., with a goatee and wearing a blue flannel top. Suspect #2 is a male, Hispanic, 13 to 15 years old, 4'5", 140 lbs., wearing a black hooded jacket. Weapon used was a blue steel semi-automatic handgun, property taken was a wallet and an unknown model gray cell phone.

2:14 a.m. 5500 block of Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks
"424" (theft) suspect is "there now, at Denny's." The suspect is male, white, blond hair, wearing a blue shirt.

2:38 a.m. 11600 block of Oxnard St., North Hollywood
Report of battery / domestic violence. The suspect is a female, Hispanic, wearing a dark blue sweatshirt.

2:40 a.m. Eastbound 101 Freeway at Winnetka Ave., Tarzana
Report of a traffic accident. First fire engine responding advises the other responding fire units to take the Winnetka onramp to the eastbound 101.

3:50 a.m. 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood
Dispatch radios that this original "unknown trouble" call is now a "424" theft, at the 7-Eleven, and the suspect is still at the location. The suspect is male, white, 6' tall, and he was witnessed stealing items from the store.

Feb. 6

9:49 p.m. Red Line Station, Universal City
Report of a "211" (robbery) at the Metro station. Responding unit requests a police air unit (helicopter). The suspect is described as a male, black, "carrying two backpacks." The property taken was the victim's backpack. Patrol unit on scene has just "lost sight of the suspect on the elevator."

10:45 p.m. 9200 block of Reseda Blvd.,
Report of a "man assaulting a woman."

10:53 p.m. Saticoy Street and Haskell Avenue, Van Nuys
Report of a "shooting occurred." Suspects are two males, wearing white T-shirts and gray pants. They are last seen running southbound from the location.

11:00 p.m. 9100 block of Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys
Report of an "assault with a deadly weapon / cutting" at the McDonald's. The suspect is a male, Hispanic, 5'8", 160 lbs., bald or a "short fade" (haircut style), wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue or dark jeans. The suspect is last seen on foot, northbound of Nordhoff Street.

11:03 p.m. 19900 block of Welby Way, Winnetka
A 911 call about a "415" (fight), a "man with a gun" is seen.

More information about the "415" suspect. He is a male, Hispanic, with a shaved head, wearing a black shirt, blue jacket, and blue jeans. The suspect is described as "armed with a switchblade knife." The LAPD helicopter, "Air 16," is now over Welby Way.

11:47 p.m. 11300 block of Old Ranch Circle, Chatsworth
Report of a missing adult, described as a male, white, 22 years of age, with short hair, brown eyes., 450 lbs. He was wearing a white shirt. The subject is described as "suffering from depression, and has threatened suicide." He was last seen screaming and going on foot in a unknown direction.

Sunday

Midnight Parthenia Street and Chase Street, North Hills
Report of vandalism. Eight suspects are seen "panting in the alley at the location."

12:06 a.m. 4900 block of Coldwater Canyon Ave., North Hollywood
Report of assault with a deadly weapon. The suspects are three to four males, white. Victim is a female last seen running southbound on Coldwater Canyon.

12:10 p.m. Hazeltine Avenue and Vanowen Street, Van Nuys
Report of a possible kidnapping in the parking lot of Carnitas Michoacan. The suspect is a male, Hispanic, with a shaved head. The suspect is seen trying to force a female employee into a dark green or black Honda.

12:15 a.m. 15100 block of Vanowen St., Van Nuys
Report of battery / domestic violence. The suspect is a male, Hispanic, 18 years old. He is reported to be "hitting his mother."

12:15 a.m. 5000 block of Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood
Report of possible "child alone."

12:22 a.m. Westbound on Moorpark Street, Studio City
Report of "ADW" (assault with a deadly weapon). The suspect is a male, wearing a light blue, vertically-striped shirt, and armed with a knife. Last seen westbound on Moorpark Street, in a white Toyota pickup truck.

12:38 a.m. Cedros Ave., south of Roscoe Boulevard., Van Nuys
Dispatch radios out to all units: "Officer needs help."

12:40 a.m. 12000 Vanowen St., North Hollywood
Report of a "459" burglary. Suspects are described as five male Hispanic gang members. The suspect vehicle is a "dark, newer model" car.

9:05 p.m 5000 block of Coldwater Canyon Ave., North Hollywood
Report of "211 occurred" (armed robbery). Suspect vehicle is a "compact black truck." Suspect #1 is a "man in a wheelchair," Hispanic, bald, wearing a white shirt and an "alligator tattoo on the right side of his neck." Suspect #2 is a female, Hispanic, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Weapon used was a "38-caliber revolver" and the property taken was a computer and jewelry. Suspect #1 was seen with the handgun.

9:35 p.m. Lankershim Boulevard and Riverside Drive, Studio City
Report of an assault. The "p.r." (person reporting) is at the "AmPm" market, and he is wearing a white and gray jacket, and gray pants. The patrol unit is requested to meet with the "p.r.," who will direct them to the suspect at the McDonald's.

10:20 p.m. 14300 block of Riverside Dr., Sherman Oaks
Report of "415" (fight) in progress.

10:25 p.m. 7300 block of Bakman Ave., North Hollywood
Report of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence. The suspect is described as the "boyfriend," male, white, wearing a black leather jacket, black T-shirt and jeans. The suspect is reported to have assaulted his girlfriend "with a chair."

10:30 p.m. 14300 block of Riverside Dr., Sherman Oaks
Dispatch calls out: "All units, code 12 (false alarm), Riverside Drive."

10:30 p.m. 4300 Strohm Ave., Toluca Terrace
A 911 call reporting a "screaming woman."

10:35 p.m. Nestle Avenue and Schoenborn Street, Northridge
Report of vandalism. Suspect vehicles are a "white four-door vehicle" and a "two-door truck." The suspects have covered their property with "saran wrap" and threw items in the front yard.

10:40 p.m. Strohm Avenue, Toluca Terrace
Patrol unit on scene reports, "No evidence of a screaming woman."

11:05 p.m. Roscoe Boulevard And Corbin Avenue, Northridge
Report of a "211 occurred." Suspect #1 is a male, Hispanic, 185 lbs., wearing a white "Dodgers hoodie" (hooded sweatshirt). Suspect #2 is a male, Hispanic, 195 lbs., wearing a "white hoodie." Suspect #1 was seen with a semi-automatic handgun. Property taken was $120 cash and the victim's cell phone. The suspects were last seen going westbound on Roscoe Boulevard toward Winnetka Avenue.

11:10 p.m. 13800 block of Runnymede St., Valley Glen
Report of "a woman heard screaming, in a black Porsche with tinted windows."

11:11 p.m. Lemay Street east on Kittridge Street, Woodland Hills
Suspect vehicle is a "green Chevy truck." A male and a "female with a pony-tail" are reported to be "taking recyclables from city bins."

11:16 p.m. Ranchito Street and Runnymede Street, Valley Glen
Patrol unit requests additional units and air assistance. Suspect vehicle is traveling southbound on Ranchito from Runnymede.

11:20 p.m. Vanowen Street and Whitsett Avenue, Valley Glen
A disturbance call for loud music. The responding patrol unit requests for a backup unit to assist on the call. The patrol officer discusses with the patrol unit the possibility that this could be "bulls---" because it was not the first report from the address and could be a "fake call." The officers discuss the possibility that it maybe could even be a set-up for an "ambush."

11:25 p.m. Vanowen Street and Whitsett Avenue, Valley Glen
"Adam 27" calls back to Dispatch advising that there is "no evidence of any type of music." The patrol unit questions the legitimacy of these calls, as this is the second time they are responding to the same location for a "loud music" call.

11:28 p.m. Parthenia Street and Woodley Avenue, North Hills
Patrol unit on scene requests additional units to the rear of "Food 4 Less" on Woodley Avenue. Possible "459" (burglary) suspect.

11:53 p.m. Parthenia Street and Woodley Avenue, North Hills
Patrol unit radios: "Code 4, Food 4 Less. Suspect in custody."

11:55 p.m. 8500 block of Telfair Ave., Sun Valley
Report of family dispute. The suspect is a male, Hispanic, 24 years of age, bald, wearing light brown or yellow shorts, and possibly "under the influence of an unknown narcotic."

12.10 a.m. OCD (Operations Command Dispatch) informs "Rescue 103" that "Engine 103" is attending to a patient that LAPD has picked up, who was "running from a traffic accident."

12:15 a.m. 7400 block of Eton Avenue, Canoga Park
Report of "415" (fight), domestic violence. The suspect is a female, Hispanic, described as the "girlfriend." She is wearing a "Steelers shirt" and black pants, and is breaking windows and throwing things at the "p.r." No weapons are seen.

12:15 a.m. 11200 block of Ratner St., Panorama City
911 female caller requests police.Dispatch relays that "a struggle is heard in the background, then the line disconnects." Police are to respond "code 3" (with lights and sirens).

12:54 a.m. Eastbound Magnolia Boulevard at Tujunga Street, North Hollywood
A "390 (drunk) driver" is reported by an off-duty police officer. He is following the suspect vehicle in an unmarked black Subaru.

12:59 a.m. 20400 block of Vanowen St. and Mason Avenue, Winnetka
"Rescue 72" advises OCD (Operations Command Dispatch) of a "single car roll-over, with one patient."

12:59 a.m. 170 Freeway near Roscoe Boulevard, Arleta
Report of a "390" (drunk driver) suspect on the 170 Freeway.

1:00 a.m. Blythe Street, west of Ben Avenue, Sun Valley
Engine 89 requests for police response to the scene. LAFD Dispatch has confirmed the Nissan Altima with Nevada plates is a stolen vehicle.

1:03 a.m. 10700 Ventura Blvd., Studio City
Report of a "battery / domestic violence" at the motel.
