Blaze at The Pizza Cookery Restaurant Extinguished

The fire appeared to have been started by an exterior light. No injuries were reported.

Los Angeles firefighters knocked down a fire in about 15 minutes that started in a fluorescent light outside restaurant in Encino, resulting in minimal damage, a department spokesman and the business owner said.

The fire in the 17000 block of Ventura Boulevard, was reported at 10:37 p.m. Sunday, fire department spokesman Matt Spence said. First arriving units saw smoke on the roof of the 30-foot-by-70-foot single-story building.

Forty-one firefighters knocked down the fire quickly, he said. Contacted inside the restaurant a short time later, owner Fred Moseni told City News Service the fire started in a fluorescent exterior light, causing minimal damage.

``will open for business at the regular time in the morning, 11 a.m.,'' Moseni said. No injuries were reported.

Thank you for the great work and heroic efforts of the firemen from Encino and Tarzana stations for putting the fire out as quickly as possible. There was minor damage to the restaurant, and we are all thankful to all the firemen who responded to the call, saving our restaurant.
