Children between the ages of 3 and 10 were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries.

An inflatable slide collapsed at a street festival in Encino today, sending four children to the hospital with minor injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The incident was reported at 6:21 p.m. at a street festival at 5901 Lindley Ave. hosted by St. Mary's Assyrian Church, said department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

"It appears there was a lack of adult supervision and too many large children were on the slide, causing it to collapse,'' he told City News Service. "Four of the eight children that were assessed were taken to hospitals for observation for very minor injuries."

Children aged 3- to 10-years-old were trapped when the slide, which is at least two stories tall when inflated, collapsed, Humphrey said.

A stretch of the block was closed to traffic after the collapse, but officials allowed the slide to be re-inflated and used, with proper supervision provided, Humphrey said.
