Encino Man Held Following Hotel Beating

A 31-year-old Encino man is accused of bludgeoning and kicking a man in a Santa Monica hotel bathroom.
 
The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to the the Santa Monica Mirror. Bail was set at $30,000.

The incident took place 3:55 a.m., May 16, in a hotel in the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue where both individuals had been attending a conference, the newspaper reported.

The victim told police the two had been having drinks and conversation. But when the victim went to the bathroom, the suspect followed and hit him in the head with an unknown object. The victim said he fell to the floor and the suspect continued to kick him.

The suspect fled, only to return at 11 a.m. for the conference, according to the report. He was recognized by hotel staff and arrested by police.
