About 50 firefighters used two helicopters and ground tools to keep a brushfire in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area to four acres today.
The fire broke out at 6400 Woodley Ave., near the Woodley Lakes Golf Course, at about 1:35 p.m. today, and was declared out at 2:24 p.m.
Initial reports from the scene indicate the fire was near an airstrip used by model airplane enthusiasts, but no cause had been established immediately.
Fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said four acres of burning grass was held in check by a lack of fuel in a 30-acre blackened plot that had burned July 16.
