Firefighters Douse Cumpston St. Blaze in Tarzana

A fire that apparently began in greenery outside a one-story home.

A fire that apparently began in greenery outside a one-story home in Tarzana was quickly extinguished late Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were sent to 17400 block of Cumpston Street at 4:56 p.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He said 17 firefighters extinguished the flames in 13 minutes, with no injuries reported.

The home's interior and attic sustained some fire damage, but a damage estimate was not immediately released.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
