Grass Fire in Sepulveda Basin Burns 2 Acres

The fire was spotted on Woodley near Burbank Boulevard.

A grass fire in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area that may have been started by a crashed model aircraft scorched about 2 acres today before firefighters knocked it down, authorities said.

No one was injured and no structures were threatened by the fire, which was reported at 3:05 p.m. at 6201 Woodley Avenue, near Burbank Boulevard, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

A total of 32 firefighters responded and knocked down the flames in 50 minutes, he said.

The cause was under investigation but the blaze may have been sparked by a crashed model airplane or helicopter, Scott said.
