2,433 DUI Arrests Made During Campaign to Beat Drunk Driving

The arrests were made in L.A. County over a 17 day period.

About 100 law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles County police agencies made 2,433 drunken driving arrests in 17 days, it was announced Tuesday.

was part of the "Avoid the 100'' campaign, and officers made 39 more arrest this year than in 2010, said Wendy Brewer of the Glendora Police Department, one of the participating agencies.

More anti-DUI operations are scheduled in February to coincide with Super Bowl Sunday and in mid-March to coincide with St. Patrick's Day.

The task force included the LAPD and most major law enforcement agencies in the county. Los Angeles County has 88 incorporated cities, many of which have their own police departments, while others have policing contracts with the sheriff's department.
