Overnight 405 Closures Through Sepulveda Pass Coming This Week

The work is part of the Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project.

The San Diego (405) Freeway will be closed from Sepulveda Pass toward the Westside Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and the opposite direction will be closed for the Thursday predawn hours, Metro officials warned Monday.

Partial lane closures will begin as early as 10 p.m., and by midnight tonight all southbound traffic will be shunted off at the Sunset Boulevard exit. Traffic will be detoured to the Wilshire Boulevard onramps, and the closures will be in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to Metro.

The same southbound closure pattern will also be in effect Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

At midnight Wednesday night and lasting until 5 a.m. Thursday, all northbound 405 lanes will be be closed at Santa Monica Boulevard. Traffic will be detoured to Sepulveda Boulevard and allowed to re-enter the 405 north at Moraga Drive, just north of Sunset.

On all three nights, nearby onramps will close as early as 7 p.m. and some freeway lanes will begin to close at 10 p.m. in advance of all three closures, according to officials.

The work is dependent on favorable weather conditions.
